August 1, 2005- Me, Me, Me, Liberaceeeee
Well, this is shaping up to be a busy month. The weather has been wonderful and it's hard to concentrate on work when the sun is shining, so I'm going to try to see if I can spend some time outdoors this month. I'm also trying to figure out a way to make this blog a little more about books and a little less about me. I get tired of talking about me. Actually, I'd prefer not to talk about me at all, but I get email saying people enjoy the blog, so I guess I'll try to find a balance between "me" and books and hopefully people will enjoy that just as much or maybe even more. --- Mya
August 24, 2005- Money Makes the World Go Around
Okay, maybe money doesn't make the world go around, maybe celestial forces are in control of that, but human society certainly puts a lot of store in it, so I was happy (very happy) to get a royalty check today (that's the actual check in the picture). I'm currently getting checks from two different imprints and they come at different times of the year. This one wasn't a huge sum, but it was a more than I expected and it means my books are still in print, so I'm counting my blessings.
I'm not sure how I'm going to celebrate (I'm seriously thinking of buying a video camera with some of the money), but I'll let you know. Meanwhile, I'm kickin' my heels up! --- Mya
August 26, 2005- Catly Comfort
Have I told you I love my cat. Yeah, I guess I probably have. Well, okay, have I told you he has a high EQ? No, that's not equine quotient. Equines are horses, not cats. EQ is his entertainment quotient. Basically the deal goes like this. I feed and water and massage my cat every day (if I don't voluntarily come and give him his daily massage he comes and reminds me about it) in exchange for him purring and entertaining me. It's a pretty good deal for him, he gets to sleep all day instead of working, and it's a pretty good deal for me, because my cat's purr makes me happy and he amuses me what I'm sad or even when I'm glad.
Today, at about 5:10, I glanced over at him to find him sleeping in this position, one leg high in the air (and it stayed there for quite a while), front legs and head stretched out, and yet fast asleep. He didn't even wake up when I took the picture. It's a cat's life. Boy I wish I could get away with sleeping 18 hours a day. I might not want to sleep 18 hours a day, but it would be nice to have the option. --- Mya
